Enclosed you will find three types of bookmarks with basic information about Poland and Polish people which the Polish Cultural Foundation has been producing for some time. Their origins date back to our initial participation in the annual Boston International Festival in 1995. Aimed at schoolchildren in the entire New England area, the Festival (which ran through 2003) sought to teach the young generation about different ethnic groups and cultures.
It is there that we learned that a bookmark is one of the best and most attractive (and durable) tools for promoting basic knowledge about Poland and Polish people. Many children told us how much they appreciate the colorful cutout on the bookmarks and stressed that, while they had been learning about Copernicus, Chopin, Maria Curie and had heard about John Paul II, no one had told them that those famous people were Poles.

Recently, some ACPC members, as well as leaders of other organizations, approached me about a wider distribution of these bookmarks. Since knowledge about Poland among Americans is limited at best, I thought their suggestion great; but I need your help to make it happen. It is my hope that you appreciate our efforts and will join us in this attempt to teach young Americans something about our Polish roots by placing an order and distributing these bookmarks within your own community.
To cover the costs of production and further increase distribution, we are offering them at $0.50 each. We will be happy to provide “bonus” bookmarks (10% extra) for orders of 100 or more. Also please note that any net proceeds from these bookmarks will be donated to needy children in Poland. Please make your check payable to the Polish Cultural Foundation, Inc. with the note “Bookmark” and mail it to:
