Karol Szymanowski in New York
I would like to invite you to a chamber music concert of a truly outstanding performer, pianist Anna Kijanowska. This promises to be an unforgettable music event and I encourage you to attend if your schedule allows you to travel.
On March 29th, at the Merkin Hall in New York City, Ms. Kijanowska, accompanied by a violinist, Ms. Sharon Roffman and a cellist, Ms. Iris Jortner will present a program devoted entirely to the music of Karol Szymanowski, a forgotten genius from the turn of the last century. Ever since Poland regained independence his music crosses the borders and is finally performed in the West. Only a few weeks ago pianist Piotr Anderszewski performed Szymanowski's "Metopes" at the Carnegie Hall to the audience's great enthusiasm.
Anna Kijanowska is definitely in the "avant garde" of the Szymanowski revival. Her virtuosic CD of Szymanowski's "Mazurkas" has been lavishly praised by the critics. In this program she will repeat the performance of the "Mazurkas", as well as collaborate on other pieces with the violinist Sharon Roffman and cellist Iris Jortner. For more details about the concert, please see the attached announcement.
