Polish Traditional Dress
The Corpus Christi procession in June is a very important part of the liturgy year in Polish culture.
The members of the Polish ethnic parish in South Boston, Massachusetts, Our Lady of Czestochowa
organized a celebration in 2002 with the folk dance group Krakowiak
(www.krakowiak.org) This event
created an excellent opportunity for getting more familiar with traditional Polish dresses.
Poland has many different regions with their own culture, music, dialects and also colorful dresses.
This is a trace of ancient tribal life, from more than a thousand years ago, now incorporated in the Christian
culture of Poland.
You will be able to recognize on presented pictures dresses from the Krakow Region and Podhale, from
Mazowsze and Wielkopolska, from Kaszuby and Kurpie, from Rzeszow and the Lublin Regions, and
others. Also, you will see traditional noble people's dresses from about XV to XVII century.
